Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3 Gets Ported to Motorola DROID

Since its original release in 2008, Google’s Android has seen itself installed on countless devices from countless hardware manufacturers. While the T-Mobile G1 manufactured by HTC, was the first device to bring the mobile platform to market the Motorola DROID was arguably one of the first devices to really popularize the platform. In fact even now, years after its release, some consumers have still been referring to all Android powered devices as DROIDs.

Anyways, now that more powerful phones like the DROID X are out, the original Motorola DROID has been effectively left in the dust. Luckily, the hacking community is still looking to bring the device up to relevance as an Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3 port has just been released for the original Motorola DROID.

Check out instructions for the port here.
