The beta version downloads for Firefox 4 is available at Mozilla’s official site. Firefox 4 Beta includes an updated interface and Feedback Add-on based on Mozilla Test Pilot. The Feedback Add-on can be found at upper right corner of browser’s window. This feature is used to send immediate feedback. Also, the user will be notified about user studies which collect information about how the user Firefox, but not personal information of user’s PC or website visits.
Core features include Switch to Tab, where Navigation is made more flexible by switching to open tabs from address bar. Window contains a small Firefox button at the top left corner all the menu items are in a single button for easy access and reduced clutter. Also, there is a small App tab, just before the first tab, used to take frequently used sites (like webmail, social sites, etc) off from tab bar so as to have them permanently stored.
Some other features are:
WebM and HD Video: Firefox 4 has support for HTML5 video standards like WebM format so you can watch open HD quality video.
Privacy: Some flaws that allow bad guys to snoop around and expose your browser history have been fixed in Firefox 4.
Faster Start: Firefox 4 starts much faster than previous releases due to the use of XPCOM module in it that provides better extension framework.
CSS3 features: CSS3 features like Transitions and Transformations makes it easy to add elegant animations to Web pages.
Multi-touch Support: Firefox now integrates multi-touch support for Windows 7, enabling you to interact with your browser in a whole new way.
Crash protection: Whenever there is a crash in third-party plug-in like flash, Silverlight, etc., Firefox 4 smartly rectifies them and provides uninterrupted browsing.
These were some of the features, but the list is endless. Features like Stay in Sync, Tabs organization and Add-on management are under the spotlight. Firefox 4 Beta is built for the way people use the Web today, offering more control over the browsing experience. Competition is with Chrome future versions. The RC version will be expected to get released in next month.
