Apple Likely to Sell 100-millionth iPhone This Year

Apple is all set to sell the 100 Millionth handset of its iPhone. The company has revealed their impressive sales rate yesterday. Apple has sold 16.4 million iPhone; this figure is that of the last quarter alone. This adds to a total number of 90 million, to be precise, about 89.75 million of iPhone handsets sold so far.

The iPhone was launched in 2007. It is being foreseen that Apple will reach its goal of selling one hundred million handsets by the end of the current quarter or the beginning of the next one. It is estimated that the manufacturer sold an average of 8.6 million iPhone mobile handsets per quarter last year (2010).

The Apple iPhone is regarded as the most successful product from the Apple stables. It enjoys wide popularity as well and is the best mobile internet device launched ever. In fact, iPhone marked the entry of Apple in the mobile phone industry.

Earlier, the company had recorded remarkable sales rate by selling one million iPhone sets in just 74 days of its introduction. The market performance of the product in each successive quarter since July 2007 was also quite interesting.
