Asus introduced 4 slate-style computers this afternoon — but three of them won’t be available until Google launches the next version of its Android operating system, code-named Honeycomb. That’s not expected to happen for a few more months. But Asus will begin shipping the Eee Slate EP121 soon. This 12.1 inch tablet runs Windows 7, which means it’s pretty much ready to go.
Asus is taking pre-orders for 32GB and 64GB versions of the EP121. You can sign up at Amazon.com
. The only catch? There’s no final pricing yet, although Asus expects the tablet to sell for $999 to $1099. Update: As expected, the 32GB model will run $999, while the 64GB version costs $1099.99.
The Eee Slate EP121 has a 12.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel IPS capacitive touchscreen display and an Intel Core i5-470UM processor. It runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and is available with 2GB to 4GB of RAM. It supports 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, a mini-HDMI port, flash card reader, USB port, and 2MP webcam.
