Worlds Smallest USB 3.0 Flash Drive

PQI have this week unveiled their tiny USB 3.0 storage device, the Intelligent Drive U819V which PQI say is currently the worlds smallest USB 3.0 flash drive. This tiny storage device measures just 3cm long and offers data transfer speed of up to 5 Gbps/sec, 10 times faster than USB 2.0 which is around 480 Mbps/sec.

The pocket USB 3.0 drive has a clean and smooth curving design with a small LED at the top of the flash drive indicates data transfer by flickering when data is being read from the device.

Apple To Change From Intel To ARM Processors?

According to a recent report by Semi Accurate, Apple may be looking to change its processors in its iMac and MacBook range of computers, and we could possibly see ARM chips powering iMac’s and MacBook’s as early as 2013.

Apple has invested heavily in ARM chips, as its A4 and A5 processors are based on ARM architecture, could it have similar things planned for its range of computers? This is a rumor we have heard previously.

At that point, Apple can move to ARM without worrying about obsoleting code with an ISA that is on the verge of changing, and no memory overhead worries either. Basically, it looks like the perfect time. Ironically, SemiAccurate’s moles tell us that the boys on infinite loop are planning to move laptops to ARM at about that time. Coincidence? Nope.

It will be interesting to see what happens, especially when we heard a rumor recently that Intel may be looking to build manufacture future processors for Apple for their iOS devices.

LG Optimus Black To Go On Sale In The UK 16th Of May

There have been a number of sites reporting this week that the new LG Optimus Black will launch in the UK next week, it looks like LG will officially launch the Optimus Black in the UK next week, and we can expect an official press release, but it won’t actually go on sale until the following week.

We have just been told by our LG contact that the Optimus Black is scheduled to go on sale in the UK mid may, and it looks like the actual date that it will be available to buy will be Monday the 16th of May.

We are not sure as yet which UK carriers will stock the LG Optimus Black, or how much it will retail for, as soon as we get some more information we will let you guys know.

Apple launches new MacBook Pros, AMD graphics, Thunderbolt

As expected for today, Apple has just pushed the button to launch a new range of MacBook Pros on its online store. These new Macbooks Pro boast a lot of improvements over their predecessors, including faster processors and improved graphics, however one thing which we are excited about is its new high-speed I/O technology called Thunderbolt.The Thunderbolt I/O technology is like a turbo-charged version of USB, with transfer speeds that Apple says is 12 times faster than FireWire 800 and up to 20 times faster than USB 2.0. Apple is pitching this as one super-fast connection that you will be able to hook monitors, high-speed storage devices and more right up to, up to six devices at once. Thunderbolt can also provide 10 watts of power to connected devices.
